Highlighters: My Top 15

IMG_2305_Fotor

Who doesn’t love glowing, luminescent skin? I know that I do. I originally planned on selecting my Top 5 Highlighters, but let’s be serious. There is no way that I could have narrowed down this list to just 5. As a freelance makeup artist that comes across all different skin tones, it is essential to have various highlighters that compliment all ranges of beauty. I also like to make sure I have different textures and formulas to alter the finish of look I am going for.

There are three different types of Highlighters: Powder, Cream and Liquid.

IMG_2656_Fotor

The lovely Violet Voss Team have released a bunch of new glitters and brand new pigments to their ever growing collection of fabulous products. I have always been a fan of their perfectly organized glitters  but this year they have totally outdone themselves. I have recently been loving the holographic components in EVERYTHING, so the fact that it’s been incorporated into this holiday collection makes it extra beautiful…in my eyes.

Venus: The Grunge Palette

IMG_1931_FotorHi Lovies. So Lime Crime has released one of my most anticipated palettes of the year. They posted a picture of this beauty a few weeks ago and I instantly fell in love. After a while, in the makeup industry it feels like you have essentially seen it all, and most companies either improve or piggyback off other great ideas. This Grunge palette is beautiful because it is totally outside of the box, in a good way. I think the company took a risk on it, but this sold out palette has been on the wish list of many. One of the reasons that I love Lime Crime is because everything about their brand screams originality and brilliance.

Fall Softly Collection by Sigma

IMG_0215_Fotor

Hi Lovies. I am back with another review. Two days ago I received this lovely package from Sigma. They never fall to amaze me with their extensive collection of gorgeous makeup and brushes. If you read my last Sigma review, the Steady Glow collection mainly consisted of bronzy and shimmery products which all warm up the skin beautifully, especially in the summer months. This collection takes you in a completely different direction, but not in the way you may have planned.

10 Lessons I have Learned in Life

life-should-not-be-a-journey

“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body. But rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, latte in the other. Body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming ‘Woo Hoo! What a Ride'”.

Life sure is one beautiful monster. When you think back to that amazing vacation or crazy ex-lover, how many years has it been? 5 years. 10 years. We go through life taking it one day at a time, putting off that big idea until tomorrow and before we realize it a lifetime has gone by. Continue reading

This Hair….

image

This hair took a LONG time for me to love. A lifetime of headaches later….. from knots to the scalp, mangled brushes and trapped hair ties. I finally found a way to love my hair & she loved me back. For years I kept her in a tight bun because that was the only way she would behave. But there is a freedom that comes with letting your hair blow in the wind and not restricting it’s direction or form. This hair type was considered “Too Exotic” to walk the halls on my conservative Catholic School (like seriously. What did they want me to do? Cut it off!) This hair stared at all of the shiny, straight strands of the girls around her and wished that they would work their drama out. They never did. They stuck around and challenged me to work out my insecurities. Now that I am older, I appreciate the beauty in all forms of everything. Hair, skin, texture, body shape, eye shape, belief system, etc. Our differences make us beautiful. They make us…US. & I would never want to be anyone else. When we are older, lets NOT look back and realize how awesome we were & regret the things we did not do, wear or say!!! Let’s love each other, but most importantly let’s love ourselves.

Xoxo

6 Ways to Use Goldilux Pigment

PhotoGrid_1394051818537

Goldilux Pigment from Sugarpill. The Makeup World’s gift to us girls who love gold. This pigment is my absolute favorite EVER!!! That is saying a lot. For those wondering a pigment is a highly concentrated loose powder that can be applied to the skin. Essentially it is a concentrated eyeshadow. Apply it wet for an intense color payoff or dry for a more subtle effect.
